D is for dancers pad

November 3, 2022

A dancers pad is a specific shaped pad to relieve pressure under the first metatarsophalangeal joint. It can be used to treat sesamoiditis.

However, the term “dancer’s pad” is not a widely recognized or commonly used term in the dance community and is really on called this by the podiatry community in the USA. It is worth noting that dancers often use various types of protective pads or cushions to support and cushion their feet during intense dance activities or to prevent injuries. These pads are typically designed to provide extra padding, shock absorption, or arch support to alleviate pressure on the feet. They can be used by dancers of different genres, such as ballet, contemporary, jazz, or hip-hop, to protect their feet from excessive strain or impact.
